Ten foods that are ideal for detoxification

Detoxification is the process of removing accumulated toxins through changes in eating habits and daily routine.

The most common way to detoxify the body is through diet. There are foods that are ideal for detoxification.

1. Asparagus

According to the Journal of Food Science, asparagus contains amino acids and minerals that relieve headaches and protect liver cells from toxins. Also, the spears found in the upper part have diuretic properties and contribute to the body’s detoxification of various toxins.

2. Cabbage

It has a great ability to rid the body of unnecessary cholesterol levels, especially when stewed.

3. Water with Lemon

Start your day with a glass of water and a slice of lemon. Citrus fruits are high in the antioxidant D-limonene, a powerful compound found in the peel that stimulates liver enzymes and helps flush toxins from the body.

4. Beets

Beets contain a type of antioxidant called betalains, which help rebuild and regenerate cells in the liver, the body’s main detoxification center.

5. Mustard

Mustard activates the metabolism, one teaspoon increases it by 25%.

6. Spinach

Spinach leaves contain some compounds called “thylakoids” that naturally suppress appetite.

7. Banana

Banana has two properties that help reduce appetite. It promotes the growth of fighting bacteria in the stomach and provides an ideal amount of potassium, which can help reduce water retention.

8. Tomato

Eating foods high in antioxidants, such as tomatoes, can prevent skin damage from within. In a similar study, participants who ate five tablespoons of tomato paste a day had 33% better protection from sunburn.

9. Actinidia

While you’ve probably heard that adding fiber to your diet can be helpful, you may not know that few nutrient sources are as potent as kiwi. Patients with irritable bowel syndrome who consumed two kiwis per day for a month had less constipation and an overall reduction in disease symptoms compared to patients who did not consume kiwis.

10. Almonds

Eating a handful of almonds a day (about 15 almonds) has been found to detoxify the body of fat that accumulates around the liver from overeating or alcohol. Almonds are rich in vitamin E, which has an antagonistic effect on liver cancer, reducing the risk of morbidity by 40%.
