Farfalas with tuna and fennel – Trends Vrends

A dish of delicious pasta and tuna in tomato sauce with fennel and lemon that is quick to prepare and healthy.

A low-fat, rich-tasting dish full of nutrients. The preparation and cooking does not take much time and it develops a lot of flavors.

200g wholemeal farfalle

150 gr. canned albacore tuna (pickled in oil)

olive oil (optional)

1 cup finely chopped fennel

2 cloves of garlic, chopped

½ teaspoon crushed red pepper

¼ teaspoon salt

2 cans of peeled tomatoes in tomato juice

2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

1 teaspoon chopped lemon zest


Cook pasta according to package directions, omit salt. Place the noodles in a bowl, cover and keep warm.

Drain the tuna, but save the oil in a bowl. If the three tablespoons aren’t enough, add olive oil for a total of three tablespoons.

Cut the tuna into small pieces and set aside.

Heat three tablespoons of oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the fennel. Cook for three minutes, stirring occasionally. Add garlic, red pepper and salt. Cook and stir until the garlic starts to color, about a minute.

• Add the tomatoes, reduce the heat and simmer uncovered for 5 to 6 minutes until the mixture begins to thicken. Add the tuna and simmer, uncovered, until the tuna is heated through, about a minute.

• Pour the mixture over the pasta. Mix them gently. Sprinkle each serving with fresh parsley and lemon zest.
